Four months have passed since Pearlsong Press launched with the publication of Pat Ballard's collection of short stories, Dangerous Curves Ahead, in trade paperback and ebook format. Since that time, sales of both print books and ebooks have been steadily increasing, and Dangerous Curves Ahead has been favorably reviewed by Fearless Books (click on the link to read the review).
We've also been pleased to publish Pat's novels Wanted: One Groom, Nobody's Perfect, His Brother's Child, and A Worthy Heir in print and ebook form. (Nobody's Perfect was positively reviewed in Midwest Book Review's July 2004 Small Press Bookwatch. (You can read that review as well by clicking on the book's title above.)
We've enjoyed acting as the herald for the Queen of Rubenesque Romances, launching Pat's email newsletter, The Queen's Proclamation, in August. Check out the first couple of issues in our newsletter archives.
We're working to get Pat's books (and future Pearlsong Press titles) into bookstores and other venues. We know they're on the shelves at the Borders bookstore in Brentwood, TN (the Nashville suburb). You can ask any other bookstore to order copies for you if they don't already have them on their shelves. Retailers can purchase the books through Ingram Book Group and Baker & Taylor Books, the two largest wholesalers in the country, as well as, of course, directly from us.
You can also buy Pearlsong Press books from Amazon.com. For a cool listing of all Pat's books, click on Books, then Search on the menu at the top of the Amazon.com main page, then type in "Ballard, Pat" in the author field and "Pearlsong Press" in the publisher field. The search engine will generate a page listing all five of Pat's Pearlsong Press books in both paperback and ebook formats!
Of course the books can also be purchased from Barnes and Noble online, Powell's (a really neat independent bookstore in the Pacific Northwest), and other online retailers, as well as our own website at www.pearlsong.com. (By the way, all Pat's paperback books purchased through our website are autographed by the author.)
Already read all of Pat's books? Well, thank goodness, she's working on another one, a romantic suspense, Abigail's Revenge, as well as a nonfiction book on The 10 Commandments of Self-Love.
And other Pearlsong Press books are on their way.
Up next for publication are artist Anne Richardson Williams' lyrical and occasionally surreal account of her inner and outer journey to Australia, Unconventional Means, and medical sociologist Pattie Thomas, Ph.D.'s personal and cultural discussion of fat stigma, Taking Up Space. Both books are slated for publication in 2005.
We're honored to assist in the co-creation of all of these moving, entertaining, and thought-provoking books.

Pearlsong Press founder Peggy Elam, Ph.D. has been invited to speak at the January 6, 2005 meeting of the Nashville chapter of the Women's National Book Association.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the second-story atrium outside Davis-Kidd Booksellers, in the Grace's Plaza Building on Hillsboro Road in the Green Hills area of Nashville. Some Pearlsong authors may attend the meeting as well. Admission is free.
The meeting and talk will be rescheduled if inclement weather results in Davidson County school closings that day.
