The Pearlsong Letter April 2005: News & Updates About Pearlsong Press Books & Authors

October 2009

A Pearlsong Conversation with authors Frannie Zellman &
Lesleigh J. Owens—plus a free ebook!

Join authors Frannie Zellman and Lesleigh J. Owens in chatting with me (Pearlsong Press publisher Peggy Elam) in a free teleconference call at noon Eastern/11 a.m. Central on Wednesday, October 14, 2009.  We plan to discuss Frannie & Lesleigh's writing workshops and performances at the recent NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance) convention.

More about the free ebook at the end of this newsletter.

Frannie Zellman and Lesleigh J. Owens are co-authors (with Kathy Barron, Anne S. Kaplan & Corinna Makris) of Fat Poets Speak: Voices of the Fat Poets' Society. Frannie edited Fat Poets Speak and is also the author of the novel FatLand. She has an MA in creative writing from Boston University. Lesleigh has a Ph.D. in sociology and is a college instructor and social activist. (Yes, that's Lesleigh's face on the cover of Fat Poets Speak. The other poets' photos are on the back cover.)

Email pearlsongconversations @ pearlsong.com for the details (teleconference phone number & access code) and call the teleconference line at noon Eastern (11 a.m. Central) to listen and/or participate in the hour-long Conversation. The teleconference line will handle up to 96 participants―first come, first served. There's no cost for the calls other than your usual long distance charges.

We'd love to hear from you! If you don't feel comfortable speaking up during the teleconference―which will be recorded―then email your questions or comments to me at peggyelam @ pearlsong.com.

We are recording these Pearlsong Conversations and making them available for listening online or downloading after the calls. You can find links to the previous Conversation recordings on the Pearlsong Conversations webpage. See http://www.pearlsong.com/pearlsongconversations.htm for more info and the archived recordings. Request the call-in number & access code by emailing pearlsongconversations@pearlsong.com.

I hope I'll hear your voice―or at least you'll hear ours―on October 14!

In Joy,

ask yourself what makes you come alive.
And then go and do that.
Because what the world needs
is people who have come alive."
