The Pearlsong Letter September 2011: News & Updates About Pearlsong Press Books & Authors

Healing the World One Book at a Time  | February 2012

New Ebooks & a Conversation with Leslie Mose, Ph.D.

Large Target & Taking Up Space, our two newest ebooks, are still available exclusively from Amazon's Kindle store. Both ebooks are enrolled in Amazon's Kindle Select program, which means people with an Amazon Prime membership can borrow them at no charge. A great way to introduce friends, family and colleagues to body-positive fiction and nonfiction!

Large Target by Lynne Murray is the second volume in the Josephine Fuller mystery series. Taking Up Space: How Eating Well & Exercising Regularly Changed My Life by Pattie Thomas, Ph.D. with Carl Wilkerson, M.B.A. is a sociological memoir about being fat and the physical, emotional and economic costs of trying to pass for thin in a culture that stigmatizes fat people.

Join me this coming Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 5p.m. Eastern/4 p.m. Central for a Pearlsong Conversation with Leslie Mose, Ph.D., author of Love is the Thread: A Knitting Friendship.

To receive the teleconference call details (phone number & access code), send an email to pearlsongconversations @ pearlsong.com. The call details will be automatically emailed to you.

There's no cost to participate, other than any long distance charges that might apply. All participants will be able to ask questions and comment as time and technology permit. The Conversation will be recorded and available for listening/downloading afterward, but we'd love for you to join us live if possible.

Leslie Mose writes memoir, historical, and fair tal inspired fiction, a logical progression since her Ph.D. included an emphasis on Nineteenth Century women's fairy tales. When not at wok on her own writing, she loves to help others bring their stories to life. She lives in Kentucky with a whippet who thinks he's more intimidating than a Doberman, and a bay mare who considers herself a lap pony.

Love is the Thread traces the way one spiritual friendship can change all our relationships. Sustained by the metaphor of knitting, the memoir centers on the friendship between two women, one snared in a life-long struggle with bipolar disorder and the other reweaving her life after an abusive relationship.  Spirituality, encounters with nature, and vacations on the Delaware shore form the threads of a friendship as varied and closely knit as the stitches in a handmade sweater.

If you haven't yet seen the marvelous images and credos generated by people standing for body diversity and against the weight bigotry of the Atlanta, GA Strong4Life fat-child-shaming public health program, check them out here.

Ragen Chastain is orchestrating a fundraiser to finance billboards supporting healthy habits in kids of all sizes without stigmatizing any children. Donating even $1 will help unlock a matching grant from More of Me to Love. Read more here and consider donating a Solidarity Dollar to the project.
