Personal Coaching for Transformation of Mind,Body & SpiritDo you feel life is going by too fast and you're no closer to the life you desire? Are you uncertain about the direction in which you're headed? Do you have dreams you'd like to make a reality? Imagine how things might turn out differently if you had someone encouraging you, believing in you, supporting you in manifesting your heart's desire and becoming more completely YOU. Frequently Asked Questions about coaching What's a personal coach? It's like having a personal trainer for your life, someone who supports you in achieving your dreams. Coaching is an alliance between two people in which the coached individual is given support, enthusiasm and accountability in achieving success. As your coach I can help you clarify your goals and values, plan strategies and stay on track in achieving the life you want. The coaching relationship is a tool for improved clarity, self-reflection, decision-making, implementation, creativity, and vitality. YOUR agenda is the framework. We jointly design the coaching relationship to best facilitate your personal success. You are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. You know yourself best. My role as coach is to support you, help hold your vision, and hold you accountable in the areas you want to pursue. How is coaching different from therapy? Good therapy can contain many of the elements of coaching, and can also facilitate personal growth and support individuals in identifying and achieving their true desires. Therapy, however, is usually focused more on understanding and healing from emotional wounds. Some therapists who are also coaches report one difference between therapy and coaching is that people tend to feel they need therapy, while they want coaching. People who benefit best from coaching tend to have already established a solid personal foundation and are functioning well in life — but they want more. More harmony, balance, fulfillment, quality of life.... What does coaching look like? We start with an extended session where we explore your values, visions, and goals. This session (1-2 hours) is usually done in person, but can also be done over the phone if desired. The ongoing coaching usually occurs via weekly half-hour sessions by phone, although other session lengths and frequencies can be arranged. Through this regular support and structure, you can develop a clear vision for your life and take action to achieve your dreams. Is coaching confidential? Because trust and openness is an important part of the coaching relationship, your identity and the information you share will be kept confidential. Coaching is not a mental health or medical service, so insurance is not involved. As a result, you (and I) don't have to share private information with insurance or managed care companies. Your concerns, your progress, and your privacy remain in your control. What areas are
suitable for coaching?
It's your choice. Common areas include: How much does it cost? The initial extended session (1-2 hours) is $150. The coaching itself is $300 per month for four half-hour phone sessions per month plus email contact. Other formats for session length and frequency are available upon request. Coaching fees are due at the beginning of each month for that month's coaching. What is your background? I have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University and am licensed as a psychologist and health service provider in Tennessee. I've been in private practice in the Nashville area since 1989. You can read more about me and my professional expertise here. I was drawn to coaching because of its emphasis on facilitating personal growth and fulfillment. I've long used coaching skills in my therapeutic work, and I wanted to be able to offer "pure" coaching as well. To refine these skills, I took the Professional Coaching Course offered by The Coaches Training Institute of San Rafael, CA and later became a founding member of Coachville.com.
