News, updates, & pronouncements from Pat Ballard, the Queen of Rubenesque Romances

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Something to think about....

Just as there are no two snowflakes the same, there are no two human beings the same. You are a one-of-a-kind work of art. There never has been, nor will there ever be, another you. So you need to love, nourish, and cherish that precious piece of art that you are.

 A Word From Pat

Greetings from Nashville! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. So far we've had a fairly wet, cool summer. Hopefully, our luck will hold and we won't see any 100 degree days. School is about to kick back into action, so it's time for moms to grab a good book and kick back and relax.

Just a little about myself. I’ve been married to the same man for 30 years. We have one near-perfect son, a lovely daughter-in-law, and two very precious grandchildren: Shaun 4, and Mikayla almost two.

I’ve been a writer/story teller for as long as I can remember. I was the oldest of six children and the oldest granddaughter next to the oldest grandchild of 28 grandchildren. My family lived on a farm, across a country road from my grandparents. Cousins were always visiting, so at any given time I was involved in some form of babysitting. I learned, early on, that a real scary story would usually keep everyone quiet for a while.

I was also the designated “preacher” when some poor creature didn’t live to see another day a bird we found dead, a bug, or anything else that would justify us having a “funeral,” so I could make everyone cry over this lost soul.

So my imagination started working early, and has continued with my dream of having my very own books published. But I did get away from the sad and/or scary tales and concentrated on writing motivational romance novels with Big Beautiful Heroines.

After dieting from the time I was around eleven years old until I was thirty-three, I decided that I wouldn’t spend the rest of my life being hungry. Instead, I would eat as healthily as possible, exercise moderately, and enjoy whatever my beautiful self became.

I’d known since I was a teenager that I wanted to write romance novels, but I also wanted them to have a good message along with a good story. Finally, I realized I should be writing romance novels with Big Beautiful Heroines. Heroines who would never try to lose weight to “get the hero,” but instead would be happy with themselves and let the hero love them just the way they are.

                                                  Love,

                                                        Pat

I’m working on a romantic suspense, Abigail’s Revenge, which I hope to have finished by the fall of 2004. I’m also working on my first nonfiction book, The 10 Commandments of Self Love.

I’m extremely happy that my books are now available in both print and eBook format. Please visit Pearlsong Press and check out all the options that are available.

Ask your local  library to stock my books. That way you can read them and recommend them to friends.

Weighty Matters

In the madness that surrounds us regarding the "war on obesity," I’d like for us all to take a moment and think about the following statistics in the U.S., alone.

  • Seven million women and one million men have anorexia nervosa.
  • An estimated 3.8 million families were hungry last year to the point where someone in the household skipped meals because they couldn't afford them.
  • 10 million people suffer from eating disorders.

My question is: If the “experts” are so worried about people’s health, why isn’t there a government campaign to help the people mentioned above?
